Atty. Gloria Ramos

Atty. Gloria “Golly” Ramos is the co-founder of the Philippine Earth Justice Center, and for almost a decade now she has been a tireless advocate for the Environment through legal education, legal action and media.

She was awarded the Justice German Lee, Jr. award in recognition of her outstanding advocacy and service for the Environment through Legal Action, Education, Public Awareness and Leadership of the Philippine Earth Justice Center.

A resource speaker and a weekly columnist on human rights, environment and governance with the Cebu Daily News, Prof. Ramos co-founded the Phil. Earth Justice Center, Inc. (PEJC) which is in the forefront of instituting legal actions and availing of accountability tools to promote good governance, ensure stakeholder compliance with environmental laws and protect the people’s rights to life, health and healthful and balanced ecology.

Rye Kido

 

Rye Kido was given the Justice German Lee, Jr award in recognition of his outstanding advocacy and service for Road Equality through Bike Community Organizing, Education, Public Awareness and Leadership of Critical Mass Cebu.

Here in Cebu, he brings with him the “idea” of Critical Mass, originally a bike group from San Francisco who originated MASS RIDES to bring awareness to the automotive culture, he has now infused the idea of riding amass in Cebuano-American style.

Fighting for equality and respect from the car culture and now finding the need to shift a paradigm in order to favor pedestrians, bikers, skaters, all free-energy users and a greater interest for better living in his old “mother land.”

Dr. Rhodora Bucoy

The Justice German Lee, Jr. award was given in recognition of her outstanding advocacy and service for Women through Gender Empowerment, Education & Public Awareness and Leadership of Sidlak GRC-7 (Gender Resource Center, Region 7).

Dr. Rhodora Bucoy is passionate educator and gender and development advocate who melds her theory with development and human rights work.

Her involvement is not limited within the academe but cascades into the non-government organizations and people’s organizations in the city and the region and the nation.
